Construction & Design:
The wrap’s unique composition of pulverized lava rock fibers provides excellent thermal insulation while maintaining flexibility for wrapping around exhaust pipes and headers. The proprietary diagonal weave enhances tensile strength and durability, preventing premature wear and fraying. Unlike some wraps that require soaking before installation, DEI’s wrap installs dry and tightens securely with stainless steel locking ties, which resist corrosion and maintain clamping force under extreme heat cycles.

Installation & Fitment:
The DEI Exhaust Wrap Kit fits most vehicle models and exhaust configurations, including automotive headers and motorcycle pipes. It is especially effective for wrapping full-length headers, from the flange at the cylinder head to the collector. The kit includes two 2-inch by 50-foot rolls of wrap, eight 8-inch locking ties, four 14-inch locking ties, and a locking tie tool to facilitate a secure installation.
Installation is straightforward and does not require pre-wetting the wrap. Simply wrap the exhaust components tightly and secure with the included stainless steel locking ties using the provided tool. No cutting, drilling, or special tuning is necessary.

Important Usage Notes
DEI does not recommend wrapping catalytic converters, as excessive heat retention can reduce their lifespan. Additionally, the wrap is not designed to be removed or repositioned after it has been heat cycled, as the fibers lose flexibility once exposed to high temperatures. Avoid wrapping flex-pipes or flex-joints to prevent damage.
For titanium exhaust systems, wrapping is generally discouraged. Titanium alloys are thin and engineered to dissipate heat quickly; wrapping can trap heat, causing the metal to become brittle and prone to cracking. If heat reduction is needed on titanium exhausts, alternative methods should be considered.
